Product Care & Safety
At KiddoHugs, we want our accessories to be enjoyed thoughtfully and cared for appropriately.
This page provides general care and safety guidance for products available through KiddoHugs, including Hair Accessories, Bags, Jewelry and Gift Sets.
Because products may differ in design, materials, components and intended use, any product-specific care or safety information shown on the product page, packaging or accompanying instructions should always take priority over general guidance on this page.
1. Age Suitability and Adult Responsibility
KiddoHugs products are not intended for children under 36 months.
Many of our products are selected for children, but purchasing and decisions about suitability should be made by an adult parent, legal guardian or other responsible adult.
Adults should consider the child’s age, development, activity and the particular design of the product before use.
Where appropriate, children should use accessories under responsible adult supervision.
2. Small Parts and Decorative Components
Some accessories may include small parts, beads, charms, clasps, clips, fasteners, decorative pieces or other components that could become detached if a product is damaged or handled improperly.
Before use, check that components appear secure and that the product is in suitable condition.
If any part becomes loose, detached, cracked, sharp or otherwise damaged, stop using the product and keep loose components away from children.
Packaging materials and detached product components should also be kept away from children where they may present a safety risk.
3. Use Products for Their Intended Purpose
Accessories should be used for their intended purpose and should not be treated as toys unless a specific product is expressly described otherwise.
Avoid pulling, twisting, chewing, biting, throwing or otherwise using an accessory in a way that could damage the product or create an avoidable safety risk.
A product that has been subjected to unusual force, impact or misuse should be inspected carefully before further use.
4. Hair Accessories
Hair accessories should be fitted comfortably and should not be worn so tightly that they cause unnecessary pulling, pressure or discomfort.
Check clips, bands, decorative elements and attachment points regularly, particularly if an accessory is used frequently.
Hair accessories should generally be removed before sleeping and before activities where the accessory could become caught, pulled or damaged.
If an accessory becomes bent, broken, sharp or loose, discontinue use.
5. Jewelry
Children’s jewelry should be selected and used with care appropriate to the child’s age and activity.
Chains, cords, charms, clasps and other jewelry components should be checked periodically for damage, looseness or wear.
Jewelry should generally be removed before sleeping, bathing, swimming, vigorous physical activity or any situation where it may become caught or pulled.
Do not allow jewelry or jewelry components to be placed in the mouth.
6. Pierced Earrings and Hygiene
Pierced earrings are personal hygiene-sensitive items and should be handled with clean hands.
They should not be shared between users, and they should not be used on skin that is visibly irritated, injured or otherwise unsuitable for wearing earrings.
If wearing an earring causes unexpected pain, irritation, swelling or another concerning reaction, discontinue use and seek appropriate professional advice where necessary.
For hygiene reasons, pierced earrings may also be subject to specific return restrictions after sealed packaging has been opened and the item has been worn or tried on. Please refer to our Return, Exchange & Refund Policy for the applicable terms.
7. Bags and Straps
Bags should be used according to their intended carrying purpose and should not be overloaded beyond what the design can reasonably support.
Check handles, straps, fasteners, zippers and attachment points periodically for signs of damage or weakening.
Long straps, cords or similar components should be handled carefully around children and should not be placed or tightened around the neck.
Stop using a bag if a damaged strap, broken fastener, sharp component or other defect could make continued use unsafe or unsuitable.
8. Gift Sets
A Gift Set may contain more than one type of product, and each item should be used according to the care and safety guidance appropriate to that particular item.
Before giving a Gift Set to a child, an adult should review the contents and remove packaging, tags or other materials that are not intended to remain with the product during use.
The presence of several products in one Gift Set does not mean that every item is suitable for every child or every activity.
9. Cleaning and General Care
Unless product-specific instructions state otherwise, accessories should be cleaned gently and should not be exposed unnecessarily to harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners or excessive moisture.
For many accessories, light surface cleaning with an appropriate soft, clean cloth may be preferable to soaking or machine washing.
Perfume, cosmetics, lotions, household chemicals, salt water and chlorinated water may affect the appearance or condition of some materials and finishes.
If you are unsure how a particular product should be cleaned, contact KiddoHugs before using a cleaning method that could damage it.
10. Storage
Store accessories in a clean, dry place away from excessive moisture, direct heat and prolonged strong sunlight where reasonably possible.
Jewelry and delicate decorative accessories may benefit from being stored separately to reduce tangling, scratching or unnecessary pressure.
Keep products away from sharp objects and from environments where they may be crushed, bent or otherwise damaged.
Products that are not currently in use should be stored where young children cannot access them without appropriate supervision.
11. Packaging Safety
Before giving a product to a child, remove packaging materials that are not intended to form part of the product during use.
Plastic bags, ties, labels, protective covers, small packaging pieces and similar materials should be disposed of or stored safely away from children where appropriate.
Product packaging is intended primarily to protect or present the item and should not automatically be treated as a toy or play material.
12. Inspect Before and During Use
Accessories can experience normal wear over time, especially when they are used frequently.
We recommend checking products periodically for loose components, broken fasteners, sharp edges, damaged straps, weakened attachment points or other visible signs that continued use may no longer be appropriate.
If a product appears damaged in a way that could affect safe or intended use, discontinue use until the situation has been assessed.
13. Product Variations
Care requirements may vary depending on a product’s design, finish, materials and construction.
General guidance on this page should therefore not be interpreted as a statement that every KiddoHugs product is made from the same materials or requires identical care.
Where a product page or supplied instruction contains more specific guidance, that product-specific information should be followed.
14. Damaged, Defective or Incorrect Products
If a product arrives damaged, defective or materially different from what you ordered, please avoid unnecessary further use and contact KiddoHugs as soon as reasonably possible.
For visible delivery-related problems, photographs of the product, packaging and courier label may help us review the issue efficiently.
Please refer to our Return, Exchange & Refund Policy for information about eligible claims, evidence, return arrangements, exchanges and refunds.
15. Safety Information Does Not Replace Product-Specific Judgment
This page provides general guidance and cannot anticipate every product, user, activity or circumstance.
A responsible adult should decide whether a particular accessory remains suitable for a particular child and situation.
If a product presents an obvious safety concern, appears damaged or is being used in a way for which it was not intended, discontinue that use.
16. Questions About Care or Safety
If you are unsure about the care, handling or intended use of a KiddoHugs product, please contact us before continuing with a method of use or cleaning that may damage the product or create unnecessary risk.
